Çillə Gecəsi Celebration Brings Community Together in a Night of Culture and Warmth

The Azerbaijan Cultural Society of Northern California successfully hosted its Çillə Gecəsi (Winter Solstice) celebration, creating an unforgettable evening filled with music, dance, tradition, and community spirit. The event marked the longest night of the year with warmth and togetherness, made possible by the dedication of volunteers, performers, and community members.

The celebration featured professional sound support by Anar Allahverdov and Musa Güntekin, ensuring a seamless and vibrant atmosphere throughout the evening. Live musical performances were presented by Aydin Shaterian and his talented tar students, highlighting the richness of Azerbaijani musical heritage.

Dynamic performances by the Sound of Fire Group, led by Anar Allahverdov, captivated the audience with the Shepherd Dance, Qaytagi, and an energetic drum show. The Azerbaijan Youth Ensemble, under the leadership of Rozi Almmaddadova, performed the traditional Uzun Dere dance, adding elegance and cultural depth to the program.

Event setup was generously supported by the Ibrahimli Family, while the New Year tree donation and decoration were contributed by Elchin Mammadov. The traditional Çillə table was thoughtfully prepared by Hameed Azari, enriching the evening with symbolic and cultural meaning.

The event’s closing and clean-up were carried out with care and teamwork by Ziya Karimov, Mehin xanım, Gülsürə xanım, Said H., Elchin Mammadov, Emil Ahmadov, and Musa Güntekin. Special appreciation was extended to all community members who brought and shared delicious homemade dishes, reinforcing the spirit of unity and generosity.
